How to Prepare your Yard for Winter!

Picture
In addition to raking up the leaves and cleaning landscaped beds it’s important to prune your plants.

Lifeless branches, blooms, and buds can deplete water and nutrients from your plants.
In general, pruning is best accomplished in the winter. However, evergreens can be pruned anytime of the year. Pruning is essential for any plant to thrive regardless of the season.

Here are some tips to pruning;
1. Make cuts back to a bud, branch, or main trunk, not in the middle of the branch however do not make cuts flush with the tree or pass by the collar of the branch.

2. Do not remove more than 25% of the leaf surface of the plant in any one year
3. Remove all dead branches.
