You know, I didn't think I had a lot to say, but apparently I might!!  :-)

Maps, Maps & More Maps!

Does anyone love maps like I do?  One of the reasons I love maps is that they are always different!  And just like the map pictured, maps can take you on a journey, and even though you may have been to that spot, do you know the history behind it?

I particularly like Walking Tours, as it allows you do to sections when your schedule permits. That's why I put up the Eastport Walking Tour so while you're out and about in Eastport, you can learn a little about each of the spots.

One of the things I know about myself is that I find the story behind the story fascinating.  One of the reasons I love Annapolis is that we all know there's history here, but do you really know the history of our city and state?

I recently came across some publications that were picked up at the Maryland State Archives during one of their open houses. The information they have there is so awesome!  I picked up some maps (like the one above) and some booklets on different historical aspects of Annapolis & Maryland.  I find them so fascinating would love to share them with you!

My job as a realtor is to make sure my clients know the area, and my website is a great resource for that.  But I'd be remiss if I said I didn't want to share some of this information!   I also realize that some of this information here is statewide, where some of you may not want to adventure that far out. But if you did, you'd have a wonderful adventure!

I've started a section on my website called Maryland History & Resources where I can put this information (because I can't NOT share!)  I only have 1 thing on there right now, so be patient as I add more material! If you go on one of these journeys, please share!  Look for more new (and well, old) things to come
!

Do you have some Annapolis (or Maryland) history you'd like to share?  If so, please forward it to me by either filling out the form below or emailing me!  I'd love to share it!

Water Conservation for your Garden

My inner Gardener is coming out! Did you know that U.S. Citizens use about 35 billion gallons of water per day? I wanted to let some of you homeowners know about some ways that you can conserve water with your landscape.
  • Buy and install efficient irrigation systems, like drip irrigation, soil soakers, and efficient sprinkler systems. I have drip irrigation at my house, and all I have to do is plug in the hose! Easy-peasy.
  • Make sure you set those efficient irrigation systems to water your garden and lawn only, and not the street and sidewalk!
  • Did you know that the amount of water used by a sprinkler in an hour is equal to the daily water needs of a family of four? So make sure that you only water during the coolest parts of the day, and only water when the ground is dry.
  • You can use trees, shrubs, and other plants that need less water in order to limit grass areas. Grass need about 30-50% more water than shrubs and other types of groundcovers. I planted some shrubs on the side of my lawn, and not only does it look gorgeous but I’m saving money!
  • You can use a rain barrel to collect rainwater. I use my rain barrel to water my plants in my garden. Rain water is also great to wash off muddy hands (or paws), clean your garden tools.
